The Benefit of Owning Art

1. Happiness ~ Studies have shown that being around art can improve your overall health & happiness. It has to be art that you like of course, otherwise it could have the opposite effect

2. Handmande ~ More often than ot, in today's modern world, nothing we have was crafted from a person's hands. Isn't it really awesome to own something that somebody made?

3. Aesthetics ~ A room can be totally transformed by art alone

4. Investment ~ Pieces of original art increase in value over time

Nature Inspiration ~

I recently took a road trip to North Carolina stopping in, well, only 1 state in between from my Florida drive. I saw so many beautiful things in North Georgia, western North Carolina that you just don't see in Florida. As you know nature is my number 1 point of inspiration. It always has been. A lot of my work I believe starts by a simple moment in nature. Even if I don't actually start a painting thinking "I'm gonna paint this exact rock that I saw in the creek" *referring to Fire's Creek in North Carolina in the National Forest of Nantahala.

Commissions

One thing that I love about painting commissioned pieces is that you have to push yourself as an artist. For example, when I paint, I usually start with a blank canvas and just let whatever happens, happen. It's like the whole thing is improvised. With a commission, someone knows they love your work, but needs something either different or in most cases in a specific size, usually larger. That being said, you have an idea in mind and of course, so does your client most likely.

a little insight into why & what I paint

I paint because its what I do...I think that there are some things that are just innate in each of us. Whatever it may be, whether its numbers, sports, bedside manor, influences, art, etc. It's just there and if you embrace it  you are able to tap into something really good and offer the best. I paint or create in some form every day. I am literally inspired by almost everything. I don't necessarily start every painting with a finished product in mind. In fact, I pretty much never do that. I don't even have a subject in mind. Unless of course, it's a commission piece I'm working on.

Mixed Media Series

Currently I am working on a mixed media project. I am in the midst of creating an entire collection of work, all on canvas, but using different materials instead of just acyrlic grounds. I do hope that you follow me on my journey as I reveal these new pieces one at at time. As these works are much more intricate, they will be released slowly as they develop. One of the things I want to accomplish in my choice of materials is using items that would otherwise be thrown away but would add a sense of dimension, history, and thoughtfulness to the art.
